ALEXANDROV V. М., KOVALENKO E. V. Problems with Mixed Boundary Conditions in Continuum Mechanics.
Moscow, Nauka, 1986.
A systematic treatment is given to the two dimensional mixed boundary value problems. The classical results as well as the most recent developments-are considered. Special emphasis is given to the effective analytic methods for the solution of the mixed problems and to the mathematical justification-of these methods. The following mixed problems are studied: in the theory of elasticity — contact interaction, stress concentration near cracks and thin inclusions (reinforcements); in hydrodynamics — problems in airfoil theory, gliding and strike jet and cavitational flows. Methods introduced in the book can also be applied in thermodynamics, acoustics and other branches of mathematical physics.
A book is intended for specialists in continuum mechanics and mathema* tical physics, engineers as well as for students and postgraduates in mathematics, mechanics and physics.
