Such a situation results primarily from an extremely high demand for psychotherapeutic assistance, so that it is difficult to blame either such “specialists” or their victims.
It was the lack of special literature on prevention and treatment of depressive and crisis states, the growth of the number of suicides, lack of knowledge in the field of mental health that served the reason for writing this book.
Mental disorders are sufferings of sense, Fillings and Will. They mean the depression of that higher power which distinguishes the Man from the rest of the world — of his Spirit.
The book deals with the problems of health and mood, it examines modern epidemiologic, statistic and historic aspects of depressive disorders. Main symptoms and sighs of various depressive states and peculiarities of the psychology of a person in the state of crisis or depression are described. Relatives and friends are given advices that will help them to reveal depression, to conduct themselves correctly and to undertake proper actions in various situations (including suicidal intentions and actions on the side of the sick person).
Much attention is paid by the author to the problem of suicides that has not been previously discussed in popular medical literature. Great attention is paid to modern methods of treatment: pharmacotherapy, psychotherapy, non-drug methods of exerting influence upon depressive persons.
Both specialists and non-sophisticated readers may benefit from chapters dealing with the main groups of antidepressive drugs, tranquiligers, drug dosages and characteristics of their therapeutic action. Detailed description is given of the elaborated by the author and applied by him in clinical practice methods of treating depressive states by means of electropuncture stimulation and acupuncture.
The most effective combinatiouns of modern psychotropic drugs and other drugs used for treatment of severe depressive disorders are proposed. Author’s recommendations are substantiated by his wide clinical experience and by modern achievements of the world psychiatry science.
Taken as a whole the book is penetrated by the philosophy of believing in Jood and Love. The author believes that any person is able to overcome the crisis of the Spirit and, while making certain efforts, to recover one’s mental health. This is what we are tought by millennial history of Christianity and by modern science. A person only needs to unite all this in his Mind and Soul.
